Headstone Repairs
An ongoing project, our Grounds Crew repaired over 100 headstones last winter and we will continue this year! Repairs include lifting sunken stones, straightening rows, and repouring headstone bases that have been damaged by equipment. The Cemetery is not responsible for repairs of natural settling cracks, but we can repair those for a fee.
How You Can Help With Cemetery Improvements
We are always asked by community members how to help with the current improvements around the Woodlake Public Cemetery grounds. Here are a few ways to help us restore the beauty of our community’s cemetery:
Follow the Flower & Memorial Policy – To aid in the ongoing maintenance (weed eating and mowing), please remove items from and around your loved ones’ headstone, and ensure the number of items are in compliance with the Flower & Memorial Policy. Beginning July 1, 2024, ALL flowers will be removed from ALL graves, and all items will be removed from gravesites and headstones not in compliance with the Flower & Memorial Policy on the first Monday/Tuesday of each month.
No Weed Eating – For your own protection, please do not weed eat around your loved ones’ graves. And please do not dig around the edge of the headstone. Removing the grass and soil from the edge will increase the chances of the headstone sinking.
DO NOT SPRAY HERBICIDES! – Please do not spray Round-Up or other herbicides on your loved ones’ graves. Please do not kill our grass and the grass on your loved one’s grave. Violators will be subject to fines and potential prosecution.
Pick Up Trash – Fake flower petals, sun-damaged items left on graves, water bottles, cans and glass bottles, plates, utensils, ketchup packets, masks, diapers, and other items are often blown around the cemetery. Please pick up after yourself and others and take your trash with you.
Bring a Rake – If you’d like to do more around the cemetery, feel free to bring a rake and rake up leaves or pine needles, especially as we are coming into Fall and Winter. Our Groundskeeper will come by and pick up the piles!
Donations – If you would like to help in other ways, please contact our District Manager to discuss the Cemetery’s needs and how you can help monetarily or with specific services or products that we may need to reach our goals. We are currently fundraising for the Wall Replacement Project. Click here to donate!
